6 African Startups Emerge as Finalists of the Ecobank FinTech Challenge
Six African fintech businesses have been chosen as finalists in this year’s Ecobank Fintech Challenge in order to compete for the top prize of US$50,000 and admission into the Ecobank Fintech Challenge Fellowship program.
The Fintech Challenge has offered entrepreneurs at various stages of development the option to work with Ecobank for the sixth consecutive year.
“I am amazed by the increase in applications for the Ecobank Fintech Challenge. From around 412 in 2018, there will be more than 700 applications by 2022. According to Tomisin Fashina, executive for operations and technology at Ecobank Group, the desire of Africans to use technological innovation as a useful tool for socioeconomic development demonstrates a definite paradigm shift inside the African continent.
The following six startups have been selected as 2022’s finalists:
Touch and Pay – Nigeria.
Moni Africa – Nigeria.
DizzitUp – Togo.
Cauri Money – Senegal.
MaishaPay – Democratic Republic of Congo.
Paycode – South Africa.
From over 700 entries from 59 different countries, six finalists were selected to compete in this month’s grand final in Togo for US$50,000 and entry into the Ecobank Fintech Challenge Fellowship program.
