WhatsApp Releases Video Notes for Channels, Tappable Reactions, and Other Features for iOS and Android

On Wednesday, WhatsApp revealed a number of new capabilities for iOS and Android users that expand the capability of voice calls, video calls, chats, and channels. According to Meta’s instant messaging platform, group conversations now have a “Online” signal that informs users of other users who are accessible for a real-time conversation. Then there are tappable reactions, which make it simpler to see how each person has responded to their messages and to follow up with a touch. Additionally, WhatsApp adds a number of iOS-specific features, such document scanning on iPhones and pinch-to-zoom in.
New Features on WhatsApp
In a blog post by WhatsApp outlining its new features, the new “Online” icon, according to Meta Platforms’ instant messaging software, lets users know if other people are online for real-time chat. Users may now select whether to receive alerts from mentions, responses, and messages from contacts they have saved, limiting notifications to only highlights.
A number of event updates are also available. One-on-one interactions can also be used to construct an event in addition to groups. In addition to inviting a guest, adding the finish date and time for longer events, and pinning the event in a chat, the new RSVP option “Maybe” has been added.
With the upgrade, WhatsApp introduces tappable reactions. It states that users would be able to tap on their favorite reaction to follow suit after seeing how others are reacting. In the meantime, voice message transcripts and video notes (up to 60 seconds) are now accessible for WhatsApp channels. By creating and publishing a QR code that points straight to their channel, administrators can quickly welcome people to join.
Additionally, there are a number of iPhone-related functions. WhatsApp claims that users no longer need to utilize third-party document scanning apps because they can scan and transmit documents straight from their iPhone. During a video conversation, they can also pinch to zoom in on a video to view their own or the recipient’s footage up close. Additionally, by hitting the call icon at the top and choosing the Add to call option, users can now be added to an ongoing 1:1 session straight from a chat thread.
