The First Teenagers’ Conference Holds In Nigeria
As Nigeria celebrates her 50th year of independence, Unveiling Africa Foundation a leading NGO in Youth development and empowerment, is organizing the first ever Annual Nigerian Teenagers conference on the 26th of October 2010. The theme of the conference is: ‘The role of Nigerian Teenagers in Nigeria’s development’ and the purpose of the conference is to educate and engage Nigerian teenagers on their role in nation building.
We at Techtrendsng.com believe this is a good initiative because the youths of any society should be given adequate attention, at teenage years that is when most people derail. Nigerian Teenagers have been relegated to the background and no one cares about them in any form, for an NGO to spearhead the development of Nigerian teenagers is a welcome development which is worthy of commendation.
Speaking at a press Conference recently in Lagos, Ms Chichi Imoka the founder and Director said that it is the belief within the Unveiling Africa Foundation that Nigeria’s bright future is guaranteed in the hands of the upcoming generation if they are nurtured and exposed in their developmental years to critical thinking, problem solving, community activism, embracing ICT4development(ICT4D) and patriotism to Nigeria which are key elements required to move the nation forward.
Some business Development experts lending their expertise to see to the success of the event include Tony Ajah, Stanley Ugbeda,Rotimi Eyitayo.
In this light, The Unveiling Africa Teenagers conference will be a platform for such nurturing to begin.
At the Unveiling Africa symposium, over 400 private and public secondary students will be hosted, the teenagers will meet face to face with their peers, teachers, parents, and social and political leaders to discuss issues of concern to them and their future. Parents, educators, civil society members, and the government will also be engaged with discussions on their responsibility to support teenagers in nation building as well as the challenges that they face in this process.
The winners of the Unveiling Africa Independence Day Essay Contest will be recognized at the conference.
