TAI and TY Danjuma Foundation to Equip 180 Teachers in Enugu, Nigeria With Advanced STEM Skills
180 teachers have started a six-month project-based STEM training program as part of a big initiative to strengthen STEM instruction in Enugu State public schools.
This project, a joint effort between Teacher Aid Initiative (TAI) and the TY Danjuma Foundation, is focused on providing teachers with cutting-edge resources and instructional methods to increase the effect of teaching STEM courses.
The participating instructors and notable figures from the educational field attended the two-day intensive session that served as the training’s official opening.
Representatives from the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board (ENSUBEB), Post Primary Schools Management Board (PPSMB), Science Technical and Vocational Schools Management Board (STVSMB), and other prestigious educational institutions were present.
This program is poised to change the educational landscape and is in line with the goals of the TY Danjuma Foundation.
Both TAI and TY Danjuma Foundation are laying the groundwork for a richer, more engaging educational experience for children in Enugu State by immersing instructors in hands-on experiences and providing them with cutting-edge STEM teaching materials.
“We are thrilled about our collaboration with the Teacher Aid Initiative,”
said Rachael Samndi, Project Officer at TY Danjuma Foundation.
“Together, we are committed to empowering teachers in Enugu State with the necessary skills and knowledge required for effective STEM instruction. We firmly believe that investing in teacher training is instrumental in enhancing educational outcomes.”
Adeola Ojeleye, Founder of Teacher Aid Nigeria, remarked,
“At TAI, our vision goes beyond just training. We aim to ignite a passion for STEM in our students, shaping them into future leaders and innovators. This initiative will not only enhance the development of children already inclined towards STEM but will also inspire countless others to envision a future in STEM-related careers.”
The urgent need to fund programs that motivate and train the next generation for STEM employment is highlighted by recent figures that show a widening disparity in STEM education across Africa.
By working together, TAI and the TY Danjuma Foundation are demonstrating their dedication to closing this gap and creating an atmosphere where children can learn while also developing their potential as STEM leaders in the future.
