Smart Applications International Collaborates with Kenya Healthcare Federation
Smart Applications International, Africa’s leading high–tech technology solutions provider, has joined forces with the Kenya Healthcare Federation (KHF), the Health Sector Board of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), to promote strategic Public–Private Partnerships aimed at achieving national healthcare access.
The collaboration will allow the Kenya Healthcare Federation to have an automated system powered by Smart Applications that will allow all KHF Member organizations to easily collect a d access critical healthcare data throughout the country at the touch of a button.
Some of the key fields and data to be collected by the system include, but are not limited to: the number of hospital beds in the country, bed occupancy, the number of available COVID–19 beds and ventilators, inpatient admission status, and a private sector-led Covid Vaccination status.
This partnership is unique in Kenya, and it comes at a time when the country is working hard to increase COVID–19 vaccination uptake, which currently stands at 3.57 million Kenyans as of December 19, 2021 (NERC Press Statement BRIEF No. 633), according to the Ministry of Health.
“Previously, KHF collected these data manually, which was prone to errors.” With this collaboration, KHF will also gain access to Smart’s Analytics Dashboard, which will provide real-time reporting to the federation on various healthcare parameters of interest in the country.
Among many other deliverables, the partnership is considering healthcare automation through the implementation of world–class healthcare processes and the use of Data Analytics to guide informed decision–making processes for all stakeholders, including the Ministry of Health,” said Dr. Gakombe, Chairperson of KHF.
“We believe that technology is a key enabler of nationwide healthcare service provision and are delighted to partner with KHF to onboard such technologies that drive value to the nation across our healthcare operations and promote better healthcare outcomes,” said Harrison Muiru, Managing Director of Smart Applications.
