Save the Children announces KES 500K Digital Innovation Challenge for Kenyan Youth
The youth of Kenya and students at higher education institutions are the target audience for Save the Children’s first digital innovation competition in Kenya.
The innovation challenge gives young people between the ages of 18 and 35 the chance to develop original digital solutions for organizational level feedback mechanisms, scientific or indigenous technology to increase community resilience, and access to high-quality education for children born to nomads, out-of-school kids, boys and girls in Kenya’s informal settlements.
The young people must submit a digital solution that tackles any of the problems listed or a working prototype of such a solution.
The challenge aims to identify and reward young people who use creativity to address issues that affect children and young people in their community. Kenyan youth (18-35 years old) who are registered students at tertiary institutions, including universities and technical and vocational education training (TVET) centers, are urged to take part in this innovation challenge.
With the goal of ensuring that children survive, learn, and are protected, Save the Children has made digital transformation a priority in all of its operations and is regarded as an enabler of both our 2030 ambition and our 2022–2024 Global Strategy.
The challenge’s winners might walk away with up to 500,000 shillings. In addition to receiving a financial award, the winners will also get the opportunity to work with Save the Children to modify and scale up a digital innovation or receive a 12-month fellowship program to continue developing and implementing the solution.
March 2023 will mark the announcement of the winner.
