SA’s Eden AI Unveils AI-Powered Mental Health App to Support Stigmatised Women

BlossomCare, a private, AI-powered mental health companion created for stigmatized women, including sex workers and pregnant teenagers, was introduced by Eden AI, a South African business that specializes in creating healthcare solutions for African contexts.
Eden AI is an AI consulting firm that was established in 2021 with the goal of empowering people and developing products that employ AI to enhance the lives of people, companies, and society as a whole.
Data science and analytics, deep learning, data engineering, conversational AI, machine learning, and computer vision are among the services offered by the organization. Oluwabamigbe Oni, the founder, claims that what started out as a modest AI consulting business has grown into a platform that provides useful health-focused technologies all around Africa.
“Eden AI has consistently taken on projects that blend innovation with social good, from collaborations focused on AI-powered maternal health tools to developing mental health support platforms for vulnerable women,” Oni stated.
“The company’s forward-thinking philosophy is reflected in its growing portfolio, which includes products like real-time consultation support for healthcare staff. This steady progress, supported by grant applications and strategic alliances, indicates Eden AI’s development as a major force in Africa’s AI-for-impact ecosystem.
Because of all of this, the business has launched BlossomCare, a private, AI-powered mental health companion for stigmatized African women, especially sex workers and adolescent mothers. It was created in partnership with the award-winning non-profit Blossom Girls Outreach Foundation (BGOF), which empowers and supports sex workers throughout Africa.
Vulnerable women in Africa are stigmatized and lack access to proper mental health care. Few digital mental health services are designed with women’s needs in mind, despite the fact that 86% of them own a cell phone. In order to guarantee access, privacy, and dignity in care, BlossomCare bridges this gap by fusing AI, multilingual assistance, and community-based outreach, Oni stated.
BlossomCare provides round-the-clock emotional support through WhatsApp in English, Yoruba, or Pidgin; individualized recommendations to peer groups, legal help, and reputable psychologists; and simple escalation to in-person care for difficult or high-risk cases. By combining multilingual large language models (LLMs) with local support networks, the platform enables vulnerable women to receive treatment in a private, stigma-free, and accessible manner.
