Report: WhatsApp to Launch Voice Status Updates
According to reports, WhatsApp is developing a new feature that would let users publish voice notes as status updates. Currently, WhatsApp status updates can include both images and videos.
The change made by the instant messaging service owned by Meta would make it simpler for users to maintain audio notes as their status. The function has been discovered in WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.22.16.3, which is accessible through the Google Play Beta program, but testers cannot access it. The term “voice status” refers to a voice memo shared as a status update that is allegedly protected by end-to-end encryption. Recently, it was discovered that WhatsApp was working on a chat sync function that would enable users to transfer conversations across two cellphones.
The WhatsApp status feature is reportedly getting enhancements, and users will soon be able to submit audio notes as their status, according to a report by WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo. The feature was discovered in the Android WhatsApp beta version 2.22.16.3, however, it is still under development and is not accessible to beta testers. “Voice status” could refer to a voice memo shared as a status update. Users can get a glimpse of how the feature might seem when it launches by viewing a screenshot of a voice note icon at the bottom of the status page in the report. End-to-end encryption will ensure the voice status’s security, and the status privacy settings will determine who may see it.
Before being released to beta testers or the wider public, the feature could change.
In the past, WhatsApp was seen developing a chat sync function that may let users transfer conversations across two handsets. The function was discovered in the Android beta version 2.22.15.13. Additionally, the business has been found to be working on a feature that would enable users to mask their online status. Users would be able to select who may see when they are online on the instant messaging app using this feature. It’s likely to be included in a subsequent version.
