Polygon Launches an 8-Week Intensive Mentorship Program, Hackathon in Africa
Top digital companies including Meta, Stripe, Reddit, and Xend Finance use the Web3 blockchain network Polygon.
The Polygon Bootcamp, an intense eight-week mentorship program, and hackathon in Africa has begun.
The blockchain development process will be explained to developers, and financial incentives will be provided to encourage their interest in the field. Outstanding developers will also have access to mentorship and funding options. Those who are chosen to participate in the mentor-led program will get knowledge on creating decentralized apps on the Polygon blockchain.
There are several financial difficulties in Africa, according to Shodipo Ayomide, Global Head of Developer Advocacy at Polygon Technology. Cross-border money transfers is one of them. We think that most of these issues can be resolved with blockchain technology with the correct blockchain education.
In addition, the blockchain industry is a very lucrative area of technology right now, with a lot of job opportunities. The goal of this bootcamp is to provide Kenyan and other African developers with the tools they need to access such lavish opportunities on a global scale.
In addition to others, mentors and judges for the competition include Iyinoluwa Aboyeji of Future Africa, Dalip Tyagi of Polygon, Yele Bademosi of Nestcoin, Steph Orpilla of Polygon, Shodipo Ayomide of Polygon, Victor Asemota of EdoInnovates, Damilare Aregbesola of Polygon, Prosper Otemuyiwa of Eden Life Inc., Jude Dike
The bootcamp will be divided between a two-week hackathon and a six-week learning phase during which participants will be required to create decentralized projects on the Polygon Blockchain in order to compete for significant cash and mentoring awards. More than 2,000 developers from five African nations—Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Egypt, and Rwanda—will attend the bootcamp, collaborating alongside many developer groups in Africa, including GDG Nairobi. Certificates will be given to each participant.
A variety of blockchain scaling technologies are among the offerings from Polygon designed to make Ethereum faster and more affordable for both developers and end users. Such applications can only be created by developers, which is why the goal of this bootcamp is to teach them how to accomplish it.
According to Ugochukwu Aronu, CEO of Xend Finance, “Xend Finance will let African developers reach a worldwide audience through Polygon’s blockchain as a Web3 infrastructure for developers, which includes a crypto payment Application Programming Interface (API) and wallet infrastructure.”
The Beginners track and the Mastery track are the two tracks offered by the bootcamp. The introduction to Web3 will be the main topic of the Beginners track. Developers without prior Web3 knowledge or who are new to the web3 space are welcome to participate in this track. The top developer in this category will receive $5000, while the first and second place finishers will each receive $3000 and $2000. The next 10 projects will also receive $500 each.
On the other hand, the Mastery track will concentrate on advanced Web3 study and is intended for students who have some prior Web3-related knowledge. The top three projects in this category will each receive a prize of $10000, $7000, and $5000. The following 30 initiatives in the top 30 will each receive $750, and the top three projects will also have direct access to Polygon’s Accelerator program for additional funding and mentoring.
Partnerships, in Polygon’s opinion, are the best strategy for accelerating blockchain development in Africa. Web3Bridge, Web3Ladies, and events in Africa including ETHSafari in Kenya, Africa Money & DeFi Summit in Ghana, and CryptoFest in South Africa are just a few of the partners.
The apps from Polygon are highly secure. With the express purpose of making transactions on Ethereum quicker and less expensive, the blockchain is a layer 2 network built on top of Ethereum. While doing this, Polygon Blockchain gains Ethereum’s degree of security. Polygon is more secure the more secure Ethereum is. Security concerns are well addressed by Ethereum and Polygon’s decentralized features. This is demonstrated by the volume and caliber of well-known companies that have opted to develop on the Polygon network, including Instagram, Facebook, Stripe, Adidas, Mercedes Benz, etc.
“The future is in fact promising. Web 3.0, in our opinion, is the only sector with the technology to address Africa’s myriad financial issues and the only path toward true financial freedom for Africans, according to Dalip Tyagi, Developer Relations Team Lead. Working with Polygon enables both the company’s current developer community and new developers in Africa to utilize Xend Finance’s technology to access the capabilities of the Polygon blockchain and ecosystem.
