Nigeria Internet Governance Forum (NIGF) 2013: Call for Participation
Theme: ‘‘Internet Governance for Empowerment, National Integration &Security through Multi-stakeholders’ Engagement’’
The Local Multi-stakeholders Advisory Group (LMAG) of the Nigeria Internet Governance Forum(NIGF) , comprising of the Ministry of Communication Technology (MCT), National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), and Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA) in collaboration with other local stakeholders is organizing the Nigeria Internet Governance Forum (NIGF) for 2013.
Information reaching us from the Chairperson of the group, Mrs.Mary Uduma says the objective of the NIGF 2013 is to take full advantage of the multi-stakeholder nature of the Forum to share productive ideas, best practices and experiences that can be harnessed to addressing critical national challenges, while providing common platform for input towards solving these challenges and simultaneously promoting the nation’s position at the Global IGF Forum taking place on the 22 to 25 October 2013 in Bali, Indonesia.
In line with the above theme and objective, the forum will be addressing the following: Digital Inclusion and Integration, Building Trust, Confidence, & Assurance on the Internet, Policy and Regulatory Model for the Internet, Encouraging Local Research on Internet Development in Nigeria, Addressing Critical Internet Resources and Infrastructure in the Cashless Society, Emerging Issues, Way Forward, and a special workshop for the NIGF youths on Business Opportunity in the Internet Industry.
These are in congruence with the Global IGF Six Point Agenda: Access; Diversity; Security, Openness & Privacy; Understanding Internet Infrastructure; Managing Critical Internet Resource; Taking Stock & Way Forward. As a major stakeholder in the Internet Governance and related issues in the country, we invite your organization and its network partners to the Forum, scheduled to hold by 9:00am, June 18, 2013, at Shehu Yar’adua Centre Abuja. Mrs. Omobola Johnson, is the Special Guest of Honour and will declare the Forum open, while the Forum will be chaired by Dr. Ernest Ndukwe (O.F.R), the Chairman, Openmedia Communications Ltd.
