Nigeria Fintech Week announces National Innovation Challenge 2021
In a bid to encourage innovation, develop the entrepreneurship mindset and deepen technical expertise among youths in Nigeria, the Nigeria Fintech Week has announced it will be holding a National Innovation Challenge alongside the 2021 edition of the conference.
The National Innovation Challenge, which is open to tertiary institutions across the country, is aimed at discovering and supporting Universities with innovative technology-driven solutions, that address challenges and gaps in agriculture, education, health, transport, among other sectors essential to the growth of the country’s economy.
Similarly, the event would also host the grand launch of DigiStuds, a digital academy project that aims to equip 500,000 graduates, undergraduates and lecturers of public tertiary institutions across Nigeria, with hands-on digital education and know-how to prepare them for the future of work and establishment of digital businesses as “Digipreneurs”.
The University of Nigeria Nsukka, popularly referred to as UNN, has been selected as the pioneer university partner institution for the southeast edition of the training.
The National Innovation Challenge 2021 is a hybrid event scheduled to hold from Monday, October 25, 2021, to Friday, October 29, 2021, with the theme – “Sustainability and Ecosystem Building” and is geared to host about a million attendees across multiple locations in Nigeria, online and on-site, from more than 60 countries globally.
The Nigeria Fintech Week is the major flagship annual international conference of the Fintech Association of Nigeria, FintechNGR, that brings together professionals, organisations, both those in the fintech industry as well as its ecosystem players and other corporate brands as well, from all over the world in a week-long conference to accelerate conversations, chart and steer solutions in and around the fintech ecosystem, in Nigeria and globally.
