National Software Conference and Competition Offers Opportunities for Young Software Developers in Nigeria
The 3rd Annual National Software Conference and Competition organized by the Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria and hosted by the Cross River State Government and drawing support from the Ministry of Communications Technology, offers great opportunities for Young Software developers in Nigeria.
The conference which has distinguished itself played key role in the establishment of the Software Incubation Centre in Tinapa, Cross River state. I am personally impressed as I witnessed the 2012 edition and am sure it has so much in store for Nigerian developers.
As preparations for this year’s conference steams up,One of the key areas these young developers can leverage the conference is by taking part in the 2013 Software Competition. The National Software competition 2012 was keenly contested between 19 higher Institutions in Nigeria who are registered members of the Nigeria Software Club. They contested on developing mobile applications that has the capacity to positively impact the Nigerian society. It is worthy to note that the Winners of the 2012 National Software Competition was the Federal University of Technology, Minna with the Project Codenamed: One School – by Team Members: Olofu Mark, Temitope Oguntade. They received several cash prizes to support further development of their project. This year several prizes will be contested for and I see this as an opportunity for talented young developers to showcase their ingenuity in software development.
This year the conference will give opportunity for young people who are between the ages of 22-35 to present papers around the theme and sub themes of the conference. The Conference no doubt will be such a great networking platform for young developers who are focused at what they intend to achieve in future.
