Madica Drops Free Fundraising Guidebook to Help African Founders Navigate Pre-Seed Raises
Raising your first round as an African startup founder is hard — especially when you don’t have the right networks, haven’t done it before, and are trying to convince investors who often see the continent as a risky bet. Madica wants to change that.
The Africa-focused pre-seed investment programme has just released Zero to Funded: A Founder’s Guide to Pre-Seed Fundraising in Africa, a free 75-page guidebook built specifically for early-stage founders on the continent. The resource pulls together real perspectives from investors, VCs, and ecosystem leaders across North, West, East, and Southern Africa — making it one of the more grounded, Africa-specific fundraising guides out there.
Madica, which launched in 2022 and is affiliated with Flourish Ventures, focuses on mission-driven founders who are typically underfunded and underrepresented. The new guidebook is an extension of that mission — giving founders the kind of insider knowledge that usually only comes from having the right connections.
The guide tackles some of the thornier parts of early fundraising: whether raising is even the right move for your business, the common myths that kill deals before they start, and how to navigate the tension between local market realities and what global investors expect. It also comes with ready-to-use toolkits, templates, and checklists that founders can plug directly into their fundraising process.
The guidebook is available for free download at guidebook.madica.vc.
