London-based startup Gravity Sketch receives $33 million in funding
Gravity Sketch, a London-based startup, has taken that concept into 3D, leveraging tools such as virtual reality headsets to let designers and others dive into and better visualize a product’s design as it’s being made; and the startup is now announcing a $33 million funding round to take its own business to the next dimension.
Platforms like Figma have changed the way creatives and other stakeholders in the production and product teams think about and iterate on two-dimensional designs.
Gravity Sketch has reached 100,000 users, including product design teams at companies such as Adidas, Reebok, Volkswagen, and Ford.
The funding will be used to continue expanding the functionality of its platform, with a particular focus on expanding LandingPad, a collaboration feature built to allow “non-designer” stakeholders to see and provide feedback on the design process earlier in a product’s development cycle.
Accel is leading the round, with GV (formerly known as Google Ventures) and previous backers Kindred Capital, Point Nine, and Forward Partners also participating (all from its seed round in 2020), as well as unnamed individual investors. Over $40 million has now been raised by the company.
Oluwaseyi Sosanya (CEO), Daniela Paredes Fuentes (CXO), and Daniel Thomas (CTO) co-founded the company. Sosanya and Fuentes met while studying at the Royal College of Art and Imperial College in London for a joint design/engineering degree.
They later collaborated in industrial design at Jaguar Land Rover. Throughout those and other experiences, the two discovered that they were encountering the same problems while doing their jobs.
