Internet Society (ISOC),Phase3 Telecoms drum support for Nigeria IPV6 Roundtable 2013
The Nigerian chapter of the Internet Society (ISOC) and telecom solution provider, Phase3 Telecoms have drummed support for the Nigeria IPv6 Roundtable 2013, scheduled for Thursday, June 6, in commemoration of the this year’s World IPv6 Day.
The Nigeria IPv6 Roundtable is an annual symposium organized by the DigitalSENSE Africa (DSA) Media Limited in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
Confirming this, the Executive Director, Operations, DigitalSENSE Africa Media, Mrs. Nkemdilim Nweke said that this year, ISOC Nigeria and Phase3 Telecom have thrown their weights behind the Nigeria IPv6 Roundtable 2013 with the theme: IPv6 and Mobile Services in Nigeria.
Mrs. Nweke noted that the Roundtable would be presided over by Nigerian Internet amazon, Mrs. Ibukun Odusote, who was the first Nigerian admin contact for the country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD), DotNG.
She revealed that the president of ISOC Nigeria, Chief Giandomenico Massari has confirmed active participation of its members, even as he urged ISOC members to take advantage of Nigeria IPv6 Roundtable 2013.
Also, Mrs. Nweke said that Chief Massari would be sharing the global perspective to Internet Protocol version Six at the Roundtable, while dwelling on “IPv6 and Mobile Services in Nigeria – An ISOC Projection.”
Equally, the chief executive of Phase3 Telecoms, Mr. Stanley Jegede, she said, would discuss the “Capitalising on IPv6 for Broadband.”
According to Mrs. Nweke, the one-day Nigeria IPv6 Roundtable 2013 is held annually in commemoration of the World Internet Protocol version Six (IPv6) in the country, every June 6, with this year’s theme as “IPv6 and Mobile Services in Nigeria.”
Further, she said that several companies playing in the Nigeria’s internet industry including Internet Service Providers, internet registrars, web designers, content providers, who intend to play in the IPv6 industry are warming up for the commemoration by booking a space for exhibition of some products akin to IPv6.
She recalled that following the allocation of the last batch of the Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) addresses by the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) it became imperative for the deployment of Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6).
