Instagram Rolls out Feature to Enable Users to Shop Directly in Chats
According to parent company Meta Platforms, Instagram is getting a payment feature that will enable users to make purchases from small companies through direct messages.
Users will be able to purchase products from a certified small company on Instagram without leaving the chat, claims the blog post. Before, users who wanted to ask a company a question about a product they wanted to buy had to leave the post and use the conversations. Users can now submit orders and directly discuss customizations in chat.
Additionally, it will be simple to follow up with the company and track the order on the same chat thread. Additionally, one can execute financial transactions for their purchases via Meta Pay. As claimed by Meta, the payments will be securely processed, and purchases will be protected.
The function supports Meta’s efforts to broaden its e-commerce options.
The social media juggernaut introduced Shops earlier in 2020 as a means for users to discover and purchase things on Facebook and Instagram.
The company additionally urged companies to open Shops on Facebook and Instagram as their online storefront.
Instagram revealed new creator-focused features last week as part of its efforts to make the social media site “the finest online venue for creators to make a life.” A subscriber home, subscriber reels, subscriber postings, and subscriber conversations have all been added by the business. Users will be able to filter out postings that are only visible to them under the subscriber home tab.
The business had previously unveiled the initial iteration of its subscriptions service for US creators back in January. In the same month, the corporation was discovered testing the features in India.
Instagram’s head, Adam Mosseri, revealed in a video clip on the social media site that more subscription services are now coming to Instagram. According to Mosseri, the subscriber conversations, subscriber reels, subscriber postings, and subscriber home features would enable platform producers to earn a consistent and long-term living.
