Galaxy Backbone Advances Government Digitalization with Govmail Training for Over 300 Civil Servants

In a major step toward digital governance, Nigeria’s top digital infrastructure provider, Galaxy Backbone (GBB), plans to give more than 300 federal servants with thorough training on Govmail, the government’s secure official email system.
GBB will provide specific training sessions for email administrators and heads of ICT from different Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) until March 2025. In keeping with the Federal Government’s digitalization vision, this effort seeks to guarantee the efficient adoption, management, and administration of Govmail.
The training, conducted in collaboration with the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), emphasizes secure, efficient, and technology-driven governance. A circular issued by the OHCSF underscores the importance of this hands-on training, designed to familiarize civil servants with Govmail’s features and ensure uniform compliance with government digital communication standards.
Prof. Ibrahim Adeyanju, Managing Director/CEO of Galaxy Backbone, emphasized GBB’s commitment to securing government communications and driving digital transformation. “This training will enhance civil servants’ ability to effectively utilize Govmail, ensuring professional and secure communication aligned with global best practices,” he stated.
In the past, the Head of the Federation’s Civil Service has praised Govmail as a “game changer” for government communication, emphasizing how it improves information security, data sovereignty, and interagency cooperation.
By guaranteeing that public sector workers are prepared to use digital tools for operational efficiency, this capacity-building program upholds GBB’s crucial position in Nigeria’s digital transition.
