e-Health Startup, LocumBase Receives Undisclosed Funding Round From Grindstone Ventures
As it prepares for exponential expansion, South African firm LocumBase, an impartial online medical booking platform, has acquired an undisclosed investment round from Grindstone Ventures.
Zulé Vuuren founded LocumBase in 2016 to connect independent medical practitioners with South African practices and streamline the locum-finding process.
“In order to give your patients the best treatment possible, practice owners and primary practitioners must take time to recharge. To expand your firm, you need a straightforward, frictionless method for managing your temporary staff and hiring the top new locums, according to Vuuren.
This is what LocumBase wants to offer. The firm graduated as the cohort winner from the Grindstone Accelerator program last year. The company will benefit as it grows from the money provided by Grindstone Ventures, which offers finance to accelerator alumnae with an emphasis on female-founded startups.
“The applications for LocumBase’s tech stack are endless. We are prepared to grow throughout South Africa and anticipate crossing international borders before the end of 2023. We are seen an increase in demand from underserved sectors where our core software can immediately improve labor productivity and employment chances, according to Vuuren.
Giving female-founded businesses equal investment opportunities is fundamental to the Grindstone Ventures ethos, according to managing partner Catherine Young.
We are excited about the chance to invest in a company that is disrupting the conventional method of allocating locums to medical practices, she added. “LocumBase, as a Grindstone Accelerator alumni company, has grown exponentially since graduating as the overall winner of their cohort in 2021,” she said.
