Chrome Introduces AI Features for a Better Browsing Experience
For the Google Chrome browser, Google has revealed new generative artificial intelligence (AI) features.
The business started integrating these functionalities with the most recent Chrome update (M121), and they will be accessible on Chrome for Mac and Windows machines as well. The browser currently has two new AI functions, and a third is scheduled to launch next month.
Users will be able to arrange open tabs and personalize Google Chrome themes with these two features. Since these are early public trials, they will be released under the Experimental AI designation and will not be added to commercial and educational accounts.
Google announced the new AI tools in a statement, stating that the purpose of these features was to increase user productivity while personalizing the browser experience. Custom themes, writing assistance, and a tab organizer are among the new features. These features are only available in the US right now, but they will soon be available in other countries as well.
Users must log into their Google account, choose Settings from the three-dotted menu on the upper right, and go to the Experimental AI page in order to activate these features. They will notice an option to activate the AI functions there.
Tab Manager
Google claims that this AI-powered functionality would automatically organize tabs according to which tabs are open and arrange the browser for the user. This is intended for those who find manual tab grouping to be a pain and who frequently have a lot of tabs open. Users can choose Organise Similar Tabs by right-clicking on a tab and utilizing this capability. Alternatively, users can select the option to “Organize tabs” from the drop-down menu located on the upper left corner of the screen. The user can manually modify the tabs that are suggested for grouping, as well as the name and emoji assigned to them.
Personalized themes
Based on the same AI text-to-image diffusion model, the custom themes functionality was first introduced on Android 14 devices, beginning with the Google Pixel 8 series. Users can create custom themes for the Google Chrome browser with this feature. The procedure of generating images doesn’t require the user to be skilled at creating prompts.
Users can click on the Customize Chrome side panel, select Change theme, and then select the Create with AI option to utilize this capability. The panel features two distinct options for adding style details, a drop-down menu for selecting a theme, and a color selection option to create a custom theme. Once done, clicking on Create will generate six images to choose from.
?Writing help
Although customers in the US can already access the aforementioned features, an additional feature is scheduled to launch the following month. Similar to Google Bard, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Anthropic’s Claude, and even Google SGE (Search Generative Experience), writing assistance is essentially an AI-powered text-generation tool. Google claims that the AI writing assistant would assist customers in creating reviews for businesses, sending out invitations to events, or submitting inquiries on websites.
Any Google Chrome page will include a text box with access to the capability. All users have to do is right-click and choose “Help Me Write.” This will cause a new text box to appear. The program will create the text whenever the user types a few words expressing what they wish to communicate.
