CcHUB and Google have announced the selection of nine startups for Rwanda’s Fintech Incubation Program.
The nine startups chosen for the Fintech Incubation Programme have been announced by Nigeria’s technology innovation center Co-creation Hub (CcHUB), in collaboration with Google, the Ministry of ICT and Innovation Rwanda, and the Mojaloop Foundation.
The Fintech Innovation Project, which includes the Fintech Incubation Program and other development initiatives, is part of Rwanda’s ongoing efforts to become Africa’s Fintech hub, with Mojaloop serving as the national payments switch.
The program is consistent with Rwanda’s goal of leveraging technology to promote inclusive economic growth.
The startups that were chosen are:
KudiBooks: KudiBooks is a payment and accounting software aimed at non-finance and non-accounting professionals in Africa. They assist users in sending and receiving payments from their preferred financial institution through Kudibooks.
Food Bundles: Food Bundles is using digital technology to improve market connections for smallholder farmers and meet the growing demand for fresh food produce. The platform enables farmers to participate in e-commerce, receive payments via mobile money, and much more!
Quiqpay: Quiqpay is leveraging digital technology to improve market connections for smallholder farmers and meet rising demand for fresh food produce. The platform enables farmers to participate in e-commerce, receive payments via mobile money, and much more!
Bafana.io; This incredible startup provides over 1200 African artists and creatives with a personal page where they can easily share their work as well as a digital wallet where they can collect tips/payments from their fans all over the world.
Uplus Mutual Partners: Uplus Mutual Partners (Uplus) is a digital group financing platform that allows people to efficiently raise funds and save with their family, friends, and coworkers.
PesaChoice: PesaChoice is a financial technology firm that specializes in data-driven lending. The startup provides short-term loans without the need for collateral.
CentWise: By developing alternative collateral products, CentWise aims to increase financial access for micro traders such as street vendors and hawkers. Financial data is converted into bankable profile insights by the company.
PayingTone: PayingTone is a credit-based marketplace for ecologically trackable products and services. The platform incorporates digital product passport technology to enable a gamified ecological footprint tracker for customers who purchase goods on a regular basis.
Exuus: Exuus is a FinTech company that uses technology to achieve universal financial inclusion for both the unserved and underserved. SAVE, the company’s flagship product, is a digital and all-inclusive wallet that allows users to manage their savings (individually and/or in saving groups) as well as their spending.
Over the next three months, CcHUB will assist the teams in achieving product stability and scalability, market readiness, and investment. They will be able to benefit from mentorship from industry and domain experts while using Google products and Mojaloop.
The first cohort of the program will culminate in a demo day in July 2022, during which the startups will present to investors via the CcHUB syndicate.
