Application for NBA Africa’s startup accelerator program is now open.
NBA Africa is now accepting applications for Triple-Double, an accelerator program designed to give financial awards and other forms of support to early-stage African entrepreneurs.
Triple-Double, run by tech incubator ALX Ventures, targets early-stage African businesses creating products in the areas of youth development, artificial intelligence (AI), digital marketing for sports and creative industries, and event management and ticketing.
Mentors from NBA Africa, ALX, and other corporate partners will be matched with ten selected entrepreneurs to offer help on product development, business growth, and go-to-market strategy.
In September, a demo day will be held in New York, when participating companies will pitch their solutions to a panel of global, US, and African industry executives. Subsequently, four companies will be chosen as the winners; the top three will receive US$40,000, US$30,000, and US$20,000 in cash and value, respectively, while the bottom three will receive US$50,000 in cash and US$50,000 in value-in-kind support.
The four winning firms will also be eligible for additional mentoring and will have the chance to collaborate on existing and upcoming projects on the continent with NBA Africa and the Basketball Africa League.
“We are excited to introduce an accelerator program centered on early-stage African entrepreneurs, with a continental focus. NBA Africa CEO Clare Akamanzi stated, “This innovative new initiative reflects our commitment to growing the African sports ecosystem, and these incredible companies will be at the forefront of shaping the future of sport on the continent.”
Applications are open here until May 31
