Android Auto receives update to support bigger screens, split-screen view
Android Auto is being updated. The latest version takes into account the ever-changing screen sizes of new autos.
The split-screen view is the standout feature, allowing users to access various features at once. Drivers will be able to access crucial functionality such as navigation, media player, and messages from a single screen. Previously, the option was only available on specific automobiles, but it will now be the default setting for all users.
Android Auto will also be able to seamlessly adjust to all screen sizes, such as the 56-inch Hyperscreen display found in the Mercedes-Benz EQS, which is essentially three screens hidden behind one piece of glass.
“We’ve seen some very exciting industry innovation,” Lopez said, “moving from these very large portrait displays to these really broad landscape displays.” “And the nice thing is that Android Auto now supports all of them and can adapt, putting all of these functions at your fingertips as a user.”
Google has incorporated changes such as standardized text-message answers, in which the driver would be able to respond to texts with a single swipe. Additionally, Android smartphone users can now project content from their phones to the screen of a car.
Google’s embedded Android infotainment system, Android Automotive, has been updated to accommodate the Tubi TV and Epix Now streaming services.
Android Automotive is currently available from Volvo and its young EV company, Polestar; Ford and Lincoln will join them in 2023. Audi, Stellantis, and the Renault Nissan Mitsubishi Alliance are all interested.
