An Ethiopian Marketplace for Talent, Gebeya Raises Pre-series A Funding
Ethiopia-based SaaS-enabled pan-African talent marketplace Gebeya recently announced a pre-Series A investment from Japanese venture capital firm Inclusion Japan.
In more than 30 countries around Africa, Gebeya connects startups, SMEs, and multinational corporations with competent talent and professional services. Gebeya has operations in Kenya and Senegal in addition to its headquarters in Addis Abeba.
“We appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with ICJ and are certain that this investment will help us expand our company to new heights. The CEO and co-founder of Gebeya, Amadou Daffe, stated, “We are excited to see what the future holds and are committed to giving our customers the best goods and services.
According to the company, “Gebeya has always profited from strong partnerships with like-minded companies who see Africa’s potential and that resource sharing is crucial to creating impact at scale.”
Yasuhiro Yoshizawa, a director and co-founder of ICJ, declared his “delight” at funding Gebeya.
The investment opportunity in Gebeya, which has the greatest potential in Sub-Saharan Africa, is something Yoshizawa considers to be very lucky. As a fund manager with a $100 million investment budget, Yoshizawa claimed he would concentrate on the African continent.
Gebeya will become a provider of marketplaces utilizing a “Marketplace-as-a-Service” model after receiving the money, evolving from a plain two-sided marketplace for software skills.
