Afrilearn, Nigerian Startup Offers Free Education Content to Primary and Secondary School Students
The education technology space has reached new heights with the release of the Afrilearn Mobile App, which is now freely available to Primary and Secondary School students across Nigeria and beyond.
This was stated in a statement issued by Afrilearn on Wednesday, February 3, 2022.
Afrilearn, founded in 2019, provides free, fun, and world-class education to children ages 6 to 18 in order for them to excel in school and competitive examinations such as the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), National Examination Council (NECO), and others. Afrilearn also tracks each learner’s progress with detailed analytics, allowing each student to identify their own strengths and areas for improvement.
“Some children learn best by watching videos, others by reading class notes, still others by solving practice problems, and still others by collaborating socially.” “Afrilearn is purposefully designed to give every child the freedom to learn using the unique methods that work best for them,” said Isaac Oladipupo, Co-founder/CEO of Afrilearn.
“Our innovative e-Learning platform offers richly animated and curriculum-based video lessons, class notes, practice exercises, live classes, a personalised learning dashboard, and many more learning resources,” he continued.
The award-winning education streaming startup has organically reached over 486,032 learners thanks to its seamless fun learning experience, which includes over 50,000 gamified quizzes, 5,000 curriculum-specific class notes, and over 3,000 video lessons.
“Beyond helping students fill learning gaps with trusted content by expert tutors, Afrilearn also empowers teachers, schools, and parents to effectively accelerate learning outcomes,” says Gabriel Olatunji-Legend, Co-founder/Head of Content at Afrilearn. Our goal is to enable students to study at their own pace both inside and outside of the classroom, using any device.”
Taiye Ojuolape, a Secondary School Teacher, shared his experience, saying, “As a History class teacher, Afrilearn saves me a lot of time in accessing useful teaching materials.” The contents are extensive, and the app display is user-friendly and simple to use. The resources significantly increased my classroom engagement.”
Isabella Onuwa, a senior secondary school student in Lagos, attested, “For the first time ever, I got straight A’s in my exams.” All thanks to the Afrilearn app’s free, exciting practice exercises. This is without a doubt the quickest way to pass WAEC, NECO, and JAMB, and I’m still surprised that it’s completely free.”
“It’s very unfair to expect a changed Nigeria without first educating Nigerians,” said Afrilearn CEO Isaac Oladipupo. Our citizens will not be able to overcome prejudices unless they have access to a high-quality education and opportunities. Unfortunately, our traditional education system is neither affordable nor sustainable. Gabriel and I left our lucrative jobs in 2018 to solve this problem using technology after witnessing it firsthand during our formative years.”
Afrilearn is widely regarded as the Netflix of education for young Africans, with 94 percent of students reporting higher school grades, increased confidence, and exam success.
