AfriLabs Introduces e-Learning Platform to Promote Innovation Across Africa
AfriLabs, an African hubs network, has launched the AfriLabs Academy to provide startup ecosystem enablers with the skills and training they need to support African businesses.
AfriLabs is a network organization that supports over 340 innovation centers in 52 African countries, with the goal of creating a community around Africa’s fast-growing technological hubs.
The AfriLabs Academy is part of the AfriLabs Capacity Building Program and is designed to provide training and management skills to African hub managers and staff, entrepreneurship support organizations (ESOs), and other startup support structures in order to improve their ability and capacity to support the growing number of startups and MSMEs in their communities.
Strathmore University co-created and approved the platform’s content, and the platform was built based on a needs assessment to identify the needs of ESOs and hubs.
“According to the Needs Assessment report, a fully harmonized ESOs curricular framework is required to meet skills and business development shortages as well as financial sustainability.” The AfriLabs Academy bridges the skills and knowledge gap, according to Nanko Madu, AfriLabs’ director of programs.
“The AfriLabs Academy is a knowledge repository for innovation hubs and other stakeholders across Africa, with the goal of providing startup ecosystem enablers with the skills and training they need to support African companies.” “I am incredibly proud of the team, partners, and community for making this possible,” said Anna Ekeledo, executive director at AfriLabs.
