African entrepreneurs are eligible to apply for 10k2Startup initiative funding, up to $50k.
Applications for the 10k2Startup initiative are now being accepted from African entrepreneurs. This program seeks to provide cash and other forms of support to businesses that are tackling real-world issues, with a target range of $10,000 to $50,000.
Established by Julius Nkansah Owusu-Kyerematen, the leader of Google’s multi-channel mid-market skills, 10k2Startup acknowledges that money and strategic advice are critical roadblocks to a startup’s ability to develop and scale.
The program, founded in Ghana, takes on these issues head-on by providing investments between $10,000 and $50,000 in exchange for a 15–25% equity stake. At the moment, it represents startups such as Homely, Nuelle Organics, and Green Tech in its portfolio.
“The start-up’s stage, growth potential, and level of traction all play a role in the funding decisions. Owusu-Kyerematen stated, “In essence, the more promising the start-up, the greater the investment and equity stake.”
In addition, 10k2Startup wants to be a vital growth partner for the businesses it backs.
According to Owusu-Kyerematen, “this entails offering professional guidance at every stage, assisting entrepreneurs in overcoming obstacles, and connecting them with our extensive network of investors, collaborators, and customers to accelerate their growth.”
The program is not sector-specific; rather, it is only searching for tech-enabled firms that use innovative technologies to propel game-changing solutions.
We look for founders that possess the fundamental traits of determination, passion, self-control, and strategic thinking that are necessary for success. We admire founders who meet problems head-on and turn them into stepping stones toward their ultimate goal, according to Owusu-Kyerematen.
“We hold in high regard the qualities of meticulous planning, unwavering focus, and a relentless pursuit of excellence; showcasing these attributes sets the stage for monumental achievements and places your startup on the path to success.”
Applying companies can do so online until July 15th for 10k2Startup’s second cycle. By July 31st, startups that make the short list will be invited to a 30-minute pitch session. After then, funding decisions will be made in a span of two weeks.
