Liberian Government to Empower 10,000 Youth in Digital Education
The first half of President Joseph Nyumah Boakai’s term will see the digital education of over ten thousand Liberian youngsters empowered.
On Monday, January 29, 2024, Mr. Boakai revealed the idea at his inaugural State of the Nation Address (SONA) in the Capitol.
He reassured parliamentarians that during the next six years, the goal of creating a middle class in Liberia must come to pass.
He said that the administration will use information and communication technology (ICT) to create jobs, particularly for young people, as part of his efforts to boost the economy.
President Boakai revealed the intentions because he said that the nation’s unemployment rate remained high.
During his administration, Boakai stated that ‘The Made in Liberia’ movement toward inclusive, sustainable growth and employment creation will be revived with greater backing for Liberian entrepreneurship.
In reference to the educational system, he stated that while it continues to be a ray of hope, it has suffered a decline over time, depriving many Liberian youngsters of the resources they require to create a better tomorrow.
According to Mr. Boakai, Liberians need to address this issue head-on.
“Education is a basic human right, not a privilege. President Boakai stated, “We cannot ignore the reality that a sizeable segment of our populace struggles with a lack of access to high-quality education.
“And there is no other way that we can genuinely seek to successfully fight poverty without the provision of quality education for our people.”
Additionally, President Boakai noted that starting now, his Administration is making a steadfast commitment to revitalize the educational system.
He said they will invest in education infrastructure and provide adequate resources.
