Google Appoints Alex Okosi as new CEO for Africa
According to Google, Alex Okosi, who is now the regional YouTube head, will take over as MD of Google in Africa.
The US internet giant said in a statement on Tuesday that Okosi will be in charge of Google’s operations in Africa, helping businesses and economies on the continent flourish as well as extending access and giving tools to assist the next billion users get more out of the web.
In the media, entertainment, and technological sectors, Okosi has experience. He served as executive vice president of BET International and Viacom International Media Networks Africa before joining YouTube.
“I am excited at the prospect of leading Google’s team in Africa and the opportunity to be an even closer part of this diverse and dynamic region, which is so close to my heart,” said Okosi. “I’m a firm believer in the potential for technology and, in particular, the internet to improve people’s lives and help individuals and businesses in Africa to thrive.”
