Application is now Open for the Green Entrepreneurship Program by TEF
To address the high rate of youth unemployment in Africa, the Tony Elumelu Foundation, in collaboration with UNICEF Generation Unlimited (GenU), the IKEA Foundation, and Young Green Entrepreneurs, launched the Green Entrepreneurship Programme.
All Kenyan waste management start-ups as well as green start-ups in Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, and South Africa can now submit proposals for BeGreen Africa through the Tony Elumelu Foundation’s digital portal, TEFConnect.
Data on young people beginning enterprises in high-impact green industries will be gathered as part of the study, and it will also look into how they might promote circular economies and a sustained green revolution in Africa.
The main objective of this mission-aligned partnership is to create an extensive, long-lasting, and youth-led green entrepreneurship initiative in the waste sector (in Kenya) and the green sector (in Nigeria, Morocco, Senegal, and South Africa), in order to advance the social and economic prosperity of marginalized youth and address the triple planetary crisis by eradicating inequalities and creating sustainable livelihoods for themselves and their peers.
The #BeGreenAfrica pilot program aims to train 1,000 young people in Kenya in waste management, provide 120 of them with economic opportunities, and give 25 under-35 green sector entrepreneurs in Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, and South Africa the chance to launch or grow green businesses in their respective nations.
The application will be accepted until August 31, 2023.
