Alibaba Accepts 360 African Entrepreneurs Into the Second Cohort of its Netpreneur Programme
More than 360 African entrepreneurs have signed up for the second class of the Alibaba Netpreneur Training program, which is run by Alibaba Global Initiatives (AGI), the professional training division of the Alibaba Group.
Since its debut in 2019, the Alibaba Netpreneur Training Programme has successfully trained close to 1,500 entrepreneurs across Africa, Europe, Latin America, as well as South and Southeast Asia.
The course, which will last through November 10, aims to give entrepreneurs and business executives from all industries concrete and doable steps they can take to advance in the digital economy. Its debut follows the success of the first class, which graduated 70 African participants in October of last year.
The selected candidates, who came from all around the African continent, will next begin a series of online workshops where they will learn how to use technology to expand their enterprises within the local economy. Each participant is the founder of a company in a different industry, such as trading, education, agriculture, or information and communication technology (ICT).
“We are excited to be able to advance our objective of educating businesses about the benefits of the digital economy and to welcome our second batch of African participants. Digitalization is no longer a strange notion to customers and business owners because organizations have turned to internet platforms to stay in business throughout the epidemic. According to Dan Liu, senior advisor at Alibaba Global Initiatives, “We expect that this iteration of our Alibaba Netpreneur Training will assist entrepreneurs in Africa establish long-term, astute digital strategies that will expand their chances.”
