National Digital Academy is Live in Côte d’Ivoire
The Smart Africa Digital Academy (SADA), the capacity-building arm of Smart Africa, continues to grow its presence in Africa, with Côte d’Ivoire being the newest nation to gain from the program for developing digital skills.
The program, which was started in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy, will provide digital skills to support the development of the nation’s emerging digital economy.
Lacina Koné, the Director General and CEO of Smart Africa, spoke at the event and praised the political commitment of governments across Africa to changing the digital environment on the continent. She also stressed the assistance of Smart Africa.

Together with the World Bank and GIZ, the Agile Regulation for Digital Transformation Program (AReg4DT) was also launched, in addition to SADA.

Coralie Gevers added, “Côte d’Ivoire has a significant role to play in knowledge sharing among peers and demonstrating the benefits of applying agile regulation principles for vibrant, inclusive, sustainable, and safe digital markets as demonstrated by the recent adoption of its National Digital Development Strategy. Capacity building and knowledge exchange among African countries is critical to support the implementation of the Africa Digital Transformation Strategy 2020-2030.
The implementation of several capacity-building programs on Big Data & IoT, teacher training, executive trainings, advanced ICT trainings, and other initiatives are all ushered in by the establishment of SADA in Côte d’Ivoire. Additionally, the first youth-focused cybersecurity innovation centers will be located in Côte d’Ivoire. The cybersecurity flagship of Smart Africa is now led by Côte d’Ivoire.
In this regard, the Smart Africa Alliance and the Ministry of Digital Economy and Communication of Côte d’Ivoire signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), which includes SADA’s supply of particular capacity-building initiatives relating to the nation’s priorities in the ICT sector.
SADA-Côte d’Ivoire will be one of the key vehicles for the operationalization of the “awareness and training” projects of the 4th pillar of the National Digital Strategy to 2025, which has the specific objective to develop and promote digital skills, the Ivorian Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Amadou Coulibaly, emphasized in his remarks on the launch of SADA.
SADA, a dynamic pan-African learning ecosystem, strives to increase digital skills qualifications and employability as well as satisfy the continent’s growing demand for talent. The nationally recognized digital skills priority needs will be supported by the national digital academy. Additionally, similar national digital academies will soon be established in Kenya, Tunisia, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
