WhatsApp to Release Android Beta With Feature for Building Communities
According to reports, WhatsApp is releasing a new upgrade for Android cellphones that allows users to build communities.
According to reports, the feature is now only accessible to a select group of beta testers. A communities tab was previously seen being developed on the communication platform owned by Meta. According to reports, this future feature would let WhatsApp users form “community” that can house up to 10 sub-groups, each of which can contain up to 512 individuals.
The ability to form a community is included in WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.22.19.3, claims feature tracker WABetaInfo. According to the article, just a few beta testers have access to this capability right now.
According to reports, this update swaps out the camera tab for the communities item in the top left corner of the app. According to the feature tracker, users can form communities with up to 10 sub-groups using this tab, and each sub-group can accommodate up to 512 individuals.
The research also notes that when people join a new community, they can choose a sub-group of their own. According to reports, they are also permitted to leave particular groups without leaving the community. It is accepted that community administrators have the authority to lock down a community. Members allegedly now have the option to report a community to WhatsApp thanks to this change.
According to reports, when a user creates a new community, WhatsApp automatically creates an announcement group. It is said that community administrators can utilize this group to post messages that are constantly available to everyone in the community.
The communities feature is supposedly also compatible with WhatsApp for Android beta version 2.22.19.2. Users are reportedly allowed to join communities, though, if the option is turned on for their accounts. According to WABetaInfo, users could still be unable to join communities even after getting the necessary upgrades and having their names added by a community moderator.
According to a recent rumor, WhatsApp is also developing a feature that will let users choose to hide their phone numbers from particular WhatsApp sub-communities. This setting is anticipated to be made accessible once the service is made available to all users.
