56 regional champions will compete for the African title of the Global Startup Awards
Following their selection as regional winners of the Global Startup Awards competition in the East, North, South, and West African regions, fifty-six African businesses, investors, and other ecosystem stakeholders will now compete in a continental final.
The GIIG Africa support exclusively uses GSA Africa, the largest independent startup ecosystem competition on the continent, to identify, support, and grow the most creative companies in Africa that are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals.
11,949 entries were submitted overall for the third edition of the competition; they have now been reduced to 56 regional winners from 22 different nations. Each of the four continents—Eastern, North, Southern, and Western Africa—has fourteen.
The startups and other stakeholders in the ecosystem will now participate in a continental competition. The African finalists will be crowned at the GSA Africa Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in October.
The GIIG Africa Fund, which is renowned for striking a balance between the commercial success of tech innovation and its social effect, will be available for engagement with regional winners. GIIG guarantees that companies contribute to wider societal advantages by making investments in lucrative and socially responsible solutions.
According to Jo Griffiths, co-founder of GIIG and GSA Africa, “GIIG’s long-term vision is to create sustainable businesses with a positive impact, fostering innovation driven economies and positioning Africa as a leader in addressing global challenges through innovative solutions.”
“By fostering cross-border cooperation and market access, we foster interconnected communities through trust, knowledge, and networks, advancing systemic change and sustainable development throughout the continent.”
