3 African startups qualifies for SOSV MOX accelerator
Three African startups have been chosen to participate in the 12th edition of the SOSV MOX accelerator, where they will receive up to $150,000 in funding and tailored support.
SOSV invests in 150 companies each year through category-leading startup development programs, providing multi-stage investment to develop and scale big ideas for positive change.
MOX is a software-focused accelerator program aimed at startups developing mobile solutions for the next four billion internet users. Aside from the seed funding of US$150,000, each startup receives a six-month program with a specialized salesforce, tech support for growth, and a close-knit cross-border fraternity.
Three of the 13 startups named to its 12th cohort are from Africa. They are Badili in Kenya, a “re-commerce” platform for smartphones and consumer electronics; LipaLater in Kenya, a buy now, pay later solution for shopping, e-commerce, and payments; and Treepz in Nigeria, a bus-hailing app that provides commuters with comfortable, reliable, and safe transportation.
“The startups selected for this cohort impress us with their daring and original spirit, courage in the face of adversity over the last two years, and commitment to bettering the world through technology,” said William Bao Bean, general partner at SOSV. “It’s been an honor to work with Promethean founders from all over the world, and we’re honored to be a part of their mission.”
