20 Tech Startups from Africa will present at Nairobi’s Angel Fair Africa.
Ten startups and ten scale-ups are among the twenty African digital businesses that have been chosen to present at the Angel Fair Africa event, which will take place in Nairobi, Kenya, on November 7–8.
In addition to Johannesburg, Lagos, Accra, Nairobi, Abidjan, Maputo, Dar es Salaam, Mauritius, and Cape Town last year, Angel Fair Africa was first hosted in September 2013.
Ten startups and ten scale-ups will pitch to investors at the Two Rivers International Finance and Innovation Centre as part of the event, which is being hosted by Chanzo Capital in collaboration with Startupbootcamp AfriTech, MEST Africa, Antler, iHub, and GrowthAfrica. This year’s event is being held in Nairobi for the first time since 2016.
Startups who are just starting out and require angel, pre-seed, and seed funding are the focus of the event’s first day.
Three Kenyan startups were chosen: Zopa254, NoMa, and VunaPay. BenBen and Lastmal from Ghana and Ejoobi and Hitherroad from South Africa round out the list, while Karaa from Uganda, Goodbite from Mozambique, and Wenzo from Nigeria round it out.
On the other hand, the second day is devoted to scale-ups, which are growing their businesses and require seed, Series A, and Series B funding.
This time, Check-Ups Med, Chumz, Save App, EpiCenter Africa, and Twiva are the five representatives from Kenya. The remaining cohort includes Ghana’s PayAngel, Tanzania’s KilimoFresh, Nigeria’s HouseAfrica, and two Ivory Coast-based businesses, MojaRide and DigiTech.
All 20 startups and scale-ups have already gone through one of the programmes run by Angel Fair Africa partners such as iHub, MEST Africa, and Startupbootcamp AfriTech, which pre-screen and prepare these ventures.
